Honey & Ivy website copy
It was so much fun writing for Emily’s gluten-free bakery, Honey & Ivy. Her vision was clear, defined, and made the entire writing process effortless. I focused on writing her About Me page, along with her team bios.
My overall goal was to be incredibly clear showcasing that her gluten-free baker is gluten-free and up to code. Because of the strict parameters for gluten-free establishments, I wanted to highlight that Honey & Ivy is unlike other bakeries, and they are THE choice in the market for folks who need to be extra careful where they shop.
Likewise, Emily wanted to keep the over tone friendly, but informative, and I think we captured that perfectly!
About Us
We keep it simple. We keep it safe.
It can be tough for us gluten-free/vegan folks, so we decided to create a company that caters specifically to us who have Celiac Disease and other severe gluten issues. Don’t have an allergy? That’s okay, because you can enjoy, too!
At Honey & Ivy we know how important it is that your gluten-free treats are actually gluten-free. But why sacrifice taste? Gluten-free/vegan can taste just as good, if not BETTER than “regular food.”
Located in the heart of northern Virginia and serving your favorite treats at your local farmers markets, we service Manassas, Clifton, and Haymarket each week. Can’t make it out to one of our market days? You can submit an order online and we’ll work with you to get you what you’re craving (this includes events and custom orders!).
Meet The Team
Emily Hamby
When it comes to gluten, Emily is an expert with firsthand experience and proficient knowledge-base. She’s been on her own gluten-free journey since she was around 12-years-old, and has vivid memories of her mom packing salads for her to eat at birthday parties, while the other kids got to indulge in pizza and cake. No fair!
But when one door closes, another one opens, and Emily sees her gluten-free life not as a challenge, but as an opportunity to really take care of herself and serve others. Just like the majority of her customers, she knows how hard it is to find gluten-free spots that truly understand the struggle.
For Emily, it’s all about options. When she lived in Knoxville, TN it was great being able to have a diverse selection of gluten-free choices, however, after moving to northern VA, she quickly learned her once packed buffet of gluten-free restaurants and bakeries became nearly non-existent. The lack of variety is why Honey & Ivy was started, and why it has been thriving ever since.
It’s passion, personal experience, and a vision that drives her to make the best products for her customers. Honey & Ivy’s menu is a reflection of creature comforts she misses, so if it’s new on the menu, it’s probably something Emily has been craving and wants to try!
When she’s not busy baking, she enjoys spending time in her garden with her two huskies, and her husband, Adam.
Morgan Ulisse
A lover of all things gluten, Morgan began navigating her gluten-free adventure after she had her son. She started breaking out with blisters on her hands, had stomach issues, and felt overly tired. Her only relief was after she cut gluten out of her diet, her hands began to clear up and the other general symptoms went away. Since then she’s never felt better and hasn’t looked back!
A dedicated baker with a knack for decorating, Morgan spent her time during the Covid lockdown perfecting her skills and started sharing her gluten-free treats with family and friends. When word got out about her specialized desserts, that’s when the requests started pouring in
As an Air Force veteran and military spouse, Morgan is a hard worker who genuinely loves meeting all of the customers. When you order something from Honey & Ivy, you can rest assured that Morgan will diligently pour her heart into every single order; it’s just the kind of person she is.
Her talents and skills beyond the kitchen extend to her other clients in her real estate business, and when she finds a break in her day, she enjoys hanging out with her family.
